Non-party Lofty, Inc. moved to file documents under seal pursuant to Local Rule 79.2, arguing they contained confidential business information. The Court granted the motion, finding that Lofty established good cause for sealing.

What the court decidedThe model
Motion to File Documents Under Seal granted
“Good cause appearing, Lofty’s Motion to Seal is GRANTED.”
agree with court
The court applied the 'good cause' standard from Kamakana v. City and Cnty. of Honolulu. The order recites that the documents contain 'confidential business information,' which is a recognized basis for sealing under the good cause standard. The decision follows from the cited authority and the stated facts.

The order itself: sound — The order correctly identifies the applicable standard (good cause) and cites the controlling Ninth Circuit precedent (Kamakana). It provides a specific factual basis for the ruling (confidential business information). The reasoning is concise but sufficient for a procedural sealing order.
